Why I Like Simple, Easy And Boring Meals

I’m a creature of habit. I am someone that enjoys the same meals over and over again, with some small variance thrown in when I feel.

My meals are boring. A source of protein, some veg and some type of sauce or seasoning. But that’s how I like it. They take 2 seconds to make and are easy to make in batches.


But that’s how I like it. And here’s why:

  • I have some goals this year relating to fitness. Meals with less ingredients definitely helps my performance and how I feel during and after workouts. And consistency is what gets results.

  • These foods make me feel amazing. Less ingredients for me means more confidence in myself (especially when there’s less bloating).

  • They’re easy to meal prep. A few hours on a Sunday, and I’m set for the week. I know exactly what I am eating (if I haven’t made it) and my lunches are sorted, ready for me to get from the fridge. Means more hours during the week which I can do with as I please!


Sure, I love a good recipe that’s a bit more elaborate, takes a bit longer to cook but tastes amazing in the end. But for me, doing that all the time isn’t practical. Give me some meat and veg any day and I’ll be happy.

But of course, not everyone feels this way and that’s ok! You have to find the right routine that works for you.

Sometimes I wish I could be bothered to make new and exciting meals each week. I’d certainly have more exciting Instagram stories and recipes to share haha. Maybe if I had a personal chef…
